Google Tone lets you share links through music

According to a report from Cnet, Google has released a new way of sharing a web link dubbed Google Tone. The new Google Tone comes in the form of a Chrome extension, which turns a URL address into a specific tone.
According to the report, the extension will add a button on the right hand side of the URL bar which, if clicked, the device will play a pleasant-sounding voice. This sound will act as a code for other systems in vicinity which have the extension activated on their Chrome browser. The browser extension on Chrome will detect the sound and will notify the receiver with an option to accept the code. If accepted, the link opens in a new tab on the recipient’s computer.
To use this feature, the user will first have to log in to their Google Account which will also show in the notification on the receivers end. According to the report, the feature works even with different operating systems but is not as accurate for now. The extension is available for desktops only and might soon feature on the mobile version too.
