Google Tone lets you share links through music

According to a report from Cnet, Google has released a new way of sharing a web link dubbed Google Tone. The new Google Tone comes in the form of a Chrome extension, which turns a URL address into a specific tone.
According to the report, the extension will add a button on the right hand side of the URL bar which, if clicked, the device will play a pleasant-sounding voice. This sound will act as a code for other systems in vicinity which have the extension activated on their Chrome browser. The browser extension on Chrome will detect the sound and will notify the receiver with an option to accept the code. If accepted, the link opens in a new tab on the recipient’s computer.
To use this feature, the user will first have to log in to their Google Account which will also show in the notification on the receivers end. According to the report, the feature works even with different operating systems but is not as accurate for now. The extension is available for desktops only and might soon feature on the mobile version too.

YouTuber Joey Graceffa Comes Out As Gay In Beautiful Music Video

On May 16th, YouTube star Joey Graceffa didn’t just celebrate his birthday (Happy Birthday Joey!), he also debuted his fairytale-inspired music video titled “Don’t Wait“. In the music video, Joey goes back and forth between reality and a magical kingdom and plays a prince trying to find his way. But the project is much more than a music video — it is also Joey’s amazingly creative way of coming out as gay.

Watch as Joey overcomes the struggles he’s faced both IRL and in the fairytale.

Awww!! What an amazing way to combine his love of music with such a great message. If you want to know more about Joey’s life and personal journey, his debut memoir, In Real Life: My Journey to a Pixelated World, hits bookstores today.

Who Wins the Battle of the Sexes?

It looks like hit music in general has settled on some formulas: Men should stick to roughly a 3rd grade reading level and women shouldn’t sing rock songs at all (more about that later).
What does it all mean exactly? Well, women seem to be a bit smarter than men, except for when they’re not (i.e., 2008-2009). Ultimately, the genre and the artist matter much more than the gender.
Granted, it’s not exactly a team effort. Certain artists do more than their fair share to bring their gender and genre group down or up through the years. So now it’s time to break down this data a bit more by genre and see who really sets the standard for dumb.
The short answer is that everybody is getting dumber, it’s not really a gender thing.  Overall, my data showed that men talk more (higher word count), but women have slightly more intelligent things to say (higher average grade level).
